Deel 2 bevat 'n omvattende geslagregister.

Die Vosloos - Nuttige landsburgers  (The Vosloos - Useful citizens)

(Please note the book is in Afrikaans)

This highly acclaimed book, compiled by Daniel Jacobs at the request of Ton Vosloo, comprises two parts. In the 261-page first part, the story of the Vosloos is sketched against the broader local and European history. Jacobs notes that it is not only the so-called 'important people' but also the people at large, the people from whom we all descend who were part of the larger historical context. Interesting facts and anecdotes about the Vosloo family are discussed within this broader context. We learn, for instance, that the progenitor was born in Westphalia in Germany in around 1649, towards the end of the Thirty-year War. Possibly Jan Vosloo joined the VOC in order to escape from the poverty which would keep Germany in its grip for many years after the conclusion of the war. We also read about another Volsoo who, according to legend, built a wooden cannon during the Van Jaarsveld uprising in Graaff-Reinet. We learn about one Gerhardus Johannes Vosloo who left the Cape as Voortrekker, as well as another Gerhardus Johannes who lost six children in the concentration camps of the Anglo-Boer War. A number of other themes in South African history are discussed from the point of view of the Vosloos who were part of those events.

The second part, comprising 225 pages, contains a comprehensive register.

Both parts are copiously illustrated with sketches and photos.
