Johannes Meintjes is een van Suid-Afrika se bekendste outeurs en skilders. Sy biografieë oor De la Rey, Botha, Paul Kruger, MT Steyn, Gideon Scheepers, Piet Joubert, Olive Schreiner en Sandile is almal hoog-aangeskrewe, soos ook sy boeke oor die Voortrekkers, die Anglo-Boere-Oorlog en Molteno. Bo en behalwe die geskiedkundige boeke  het hy ook 'n paar novelle geskryf - sommige waarin daar fyn kommentaar gelewer is oor die Suid-Afrikaanse politieke opset. Ander gee weer 'n besonderse beskrywing van die samelewing, in die vorm van 'n storie. Die storie van die "Vorsters van Zevenfontein" word in die boek Manor House - wat ook onder die naam The Silent Conspiracyverkoop is - vertel.

Johannes Meintjes is one of South Africa's most well-known and respected authors and artists. His biographies of De la Rey, Botha, Paul Kruger, MT Steyn, Gideon Scheepers, Piet Joubert, Olive Schreiner and Sandile  are all highly rated, as are his books about the Voortrekkers, the Anglo-Boer-War and Molteno. Besides the books of biographical and cultural-historic nature, Meintjes also authored some novels. The storylines of some of these provide commentary on the South African political system while others provide insight into the society of the time. Manor House (which was also marketed under the title The Silent Conspiracy) tells the story of the "Vorsters of Zevenfontein".
